Learn more about what we can do for you when you order your NIF

Updated over 5 months ago

Here’s a breakdown of what’s included in our one-time fee:

  • Obtaining your NIF and Filing Required Paperwork

We’ll handle the entire application process to secure your permanent NIF in Portugal, ensuring all necessary documents are submitted correctly.

  • Fiscal Representation (Year 1):

Our partner lawyer acts as your official tax representative for the first year. This includes:

    • Portal das Finanças access:

We’ll obtain your login details for the Portuguese tax authority website (approximately 2-3 weeks after your NIF is issued). This waiting period is set by the Autoridade Tributária and cannot be expedited.

    • Forwarding communications from the Portuguese Tax Authorities to your email for 1 year

  • Notification channel activation:

After you receive your login credentials for the Portal das Finanças, we’ll guide you through activating the notification channel. This is important because:

    • Recent changes in Portugal’s tax law (effective 2022) allow non-EU/EEA residents to manage tax affairs independently through digital notifications.

    • Once our initial year of representation ends, you’ll be fully set up to receive these electronic notifications directly through the portal. This eliminates the ongoing need for a tax representative if you plan to engage in taxable activities like buying a car or property in the future.

    • Note for EU/EEA Residents: If you’re a resident of the European Union or European Economic Area (EU/EEA), you don’t necessarily need to activate the notification channel on the Portal das Finanças.

We’ll also provide you with a step-by-step guide on activating the notification channels yourself. This will ensure you can manage your tax affairs in Portugal independently moving forward.
