Find out if a tax rep is mandatory for you as a EU/EEA resident

No, EU/EEA residents don’t require a fiscal representative for tax purposes in Portugal.

However, to assist in acquiring your NIF, our lawyer can act in two capacities:

  1. As a legal representative, enabling us to send the Finanças Portal temporary password directly to your residential address outside of Portugal. This method typically means waiting 2 weeks for the password to arrive via regular mail to your residential address within EU/EEA area.

  2. As a tax representative, which allows us to provide you with access to the portal via e-mail. This method typically means waiting 2-3 weeks for the password to be picked up by our lawyer from a tax office.

The choice between these options is available after you complete the payment and fill out the intake form.

This approach ensures you have the flexibility to select how you wish to access the Finanças Portal if you’re an EU/EEA resident.
